2018 Home Mortgage Disclosure Act Data

Updated July 20, 2017.
As you are probably aware, effective Jan 1, 2018, all affected lenders must collect the new Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) data and submit appropriate reports to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) under the new rule as required by Reg. C.

We have added the new HMDA data fields early to help you implement and test well in advance of the deadline. When you use Point and QuestSoft, our integrated HMDA reporting vendor, HMDA data points are tracked and stored exactly the same way in your system of record and the reporting software, reducing potential errors and regulatory audit concerns.

HMDA updates in our latest version, Point 9.6:

  • Added the Loan Application Addendum screen and print form for collecting the HMDA demographic information for the new Fannie Mae Loan Application.
  • Added the Loan Application Addendum option to Company Defaults on the Utilities menu for users to specify whether they want the addendum to print with the Loan Application.
  • Updated the HMDA Reporting (2018) screen to better facilitate the 2018 HMDA requirements.

You may refer to the CFPB HMDA Rules Key Dates Timeline for information about the HMDA 2018 effective date, data collection, and submission.

HMDA Reporting and Submission

Point collects HMDA data in an alpha/numeric text format. It does not convert the alpha/numeric text into the new required numeric value for a direct Loan Application Register (LAR) upload. The new format requires a service to handle a pipe delimited text file with numeric values to represent the text descriptions. Point customers have the option of using QuestSoft expert, third-party compliance software company well-versed in HMDA reporting.

Uniform Closing Dataset

The new Uniform Closing Dataset (UCD) requirements become effective September 25, 2017. We have received Fannie Mae UCD certification. This means that the UCD XML data export for Fannie Mae can be successfully completed from Point 9.6 which is now available. Certification for Freddie Mac is in progress. As soon as we receive the certification, we will send a notification to account primaries.

Point 9.6 is Available

Point® Version 9.6 is now available and ready for immediate deployment through MyCalyx by your MyCalyx Administrator.

The primary focuses of this release are to refine the HMDA data features, provide Uniform Closing Dataset (UCD) export functionality, and add the new Loan Application Addendum for borrower demographic information.

Point 9.6 requires each user to update their existing .NET framework to 4.6.2.
We strongly recommend each user updates the .NET framework prior to downloading Point 9.6 to avoid error messages when trying to open Point. Instructions, compatibility information, and links to the download are available in
Knowledge Base article 1002 Installing Microsoft .NET Framework.
