1811 Exporting Cardex records to Outlook contacts

Exporting Cardex records to a .csv file

  1. Open Point.
  2. From the Menu bar, select Utilities > Cardex Database.

  3. From the Menu bar, select File > Export.
  4. Remove the check from the Include Field Names in First Row checkbox.

  5. Click Export.
  6. From the Export Cardex window, save the file to the Desktop.
  7. Change the File name: field to PointCardex.csv
  8. Change the Save as type: field to All Files (*.*)

  9. Click Save.

 

Importing the .csv file into Microsoft Outlook

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook.
  2. From the Menu bar, select File > Import and Export.
  3. Select Import from another program or file.

  4. Click Next.
  5. Select Comma Separated Values (Windows).

  6. Click Next.
  7. From the Import a File window, click Browse.
  8. From the Browse window, browse to the Desktop and select PointCardex.csv.
  9. Click OK.

    The Import a file window opens.
     
  10. In the Options section, select whether you want to replace duplicates, allow duplicates, or not import duplicates.

  11. Click Next.
  12. Select Contacts.

  13. Click Next.
  14. From the Import a File window, insert a check in the Import "PointCardex.csv" into folder: Contacts checkbox.

    The Map Custom Fields window appears.
     
  15. From the left panel, drag each item to the appropriate section of the right panel. For Example:

    • Drag the First and Last name from the left panel, to the First Name and Last Name field of the right panel.

    • Do the same for any other fields, such as, CompanyTitle, or Business Address.

    Click the + sign in the right panel next to Name
  16. When you have mapped all fields, click OK
