The Cardex Database is stored in a file named Pointcdx.mdb. The file is located in the PnttemplDatabase folder. Depending on how Point is configured, the Pnttempl folder may be installed on the local drive (C:) or a network location.
Copying the Cardex
- Double-click My Computer.
- Double-click on the C: drive or your network drive.
- Double-click on the Pnttempl folder.
- Double-click on the Database folder.
- Right-click on the Pointcdx.mdb file and click Copy.
- Go to My Computer.
- Right-click the drive letter in which the Cardex Database will be copied and select Paste.
The Cardex database can be copied to a CD, Zip drive, USB storage device, or other device.
If it is a CD-ROM drive with a CD Writer, right click the drive letter once the file has been successfully copied and select Write these files to disk.
Copying the Cardex to another computer. If you are replacing an existing Cardex with a new one complete the instructions below.

- Insert the CD-Rom or storage device into the computer.
- Double-click My Computer.
- Double-click the drive letter where the the contents of disk drive will appear.
- Right-click on the Pointcdx.mdb file and click Copy.
- Go to My Computer.
- Double-click Local Disk (C:) or the network drive where the Point files are stored.
- Double-click the Pnttempl folder.
- Double-click on the Database folder.
- From the Menu bar, select Edit > Paste.
- Click Yes on the message stating: "The file already exist, would you like to overwrite it." This will replace the current cardex records with the new cardex records.
- Open Point and verify the Cardex information.
