      6348 Error opening installation log file. Verify that the specific log file location exists and is writable

      SYMPTOM

      An error occurs when you are installing Point: "Error opening installation log file. Verify that the specific log file location exists and is writable."

      CAUSE

      The user does not have permissions to their profile directory where the installation log is created.

       

      RESOLUTION

      Login as Administrator

      1. Logoff the computer and login with the administrator account
      2. Access the installation link via email and install Point.
      3. Log the Administrator off once the installation has completed and log back in as the user. Point will be installed.

      Permissions to the installation log directory

      For Windows 7:

      The installation log file is called log.txt and is located at c:programdata. The user does not have full permissions to this location for the installation to create or update the log.txt file. Contact your administrator to give you full permissions to the directory.
