SYMPTOM
When you open, print, or create a custom form, an error appears: "Runtime error in Program C:\WINPOINT\AutoWord.exe…This application has requested the runtime to terminate in an usual way. Please contact the application support team for more information."
CAUSES
- Microsoft Word trial version has expired.
- Antivirus is blocking autoword.exe scripts.
- Microsoft Word is having problems and must be repaired.
RESOLUTION
Microsoft Word trial version has expired, rendering most Word functions unusable, thus causing the error in Point.
- Open Microsoft Word.
- If you are prompted to register the product or enter an authorization code, you must register it to use the Point Custom Forms feature.
Antivirus is blocking autoword.exe scripts.
- Open the Antivirus software you use, such as Norton or McAfee.
- Look for a section detailing Scripts or Script Blocking.
- Either disable script blocking or verify that autoword.exe is set to Allow or Permit.
Microsoft Word is having problems and needs to be repaired
- Close Point and all programs.
- Open Microsoft Word.
- From the Menu bar, select Help > Detect and Repair. (You may need to contact your network administrator to assist you in the repair of Microsoft Word.)
- When the repair is complete, open Point and try custom forms again.
Create a new Windows profile
- Create a new windows profile. (You may need to contact your network administrator to create a new profile)
- Restart the computer and then log into Windows as the new user.
- Open Point and try working with Custom Forms.
Editing Custom Forms
- Open Point
- Click Templates
- Choose Custom Forms.
- Open the Custom Form
- Verify there are no check boxes or text boxes
