6416 Could not load file or assembly Microsoft.Webservices2...opening a Point attachment

SYMPTOM

When you open a Point attachment, an error occurs:
"PCF Error. Could not load file or assembly Microsoft.WebServices2, Version=2.0.2.0....or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the specified file."

 

CAUSE

The pcf.exe.config file is invalid.

RESOLUTION

Download the pcf.exe.config file

1. Close Point.
2. Click pcf.exe.config from the Attachments section of this article.


3. From the File Download window, select Save As.
4. Save the file into the Winpoint folder on the C drive by going to My Computer > Local Disk C: and double-clicking the Winpoint folder.
5. Click Save.
6. Select Yes to overwrite.
7. Open your Point file attachment.
