      6420 Install.exe generates error code 997: Overlapping I/O operation is in progress

      SYMPTOM

      When you run install.exe, anerror appears: "Code 997 Overlapping I/O operation is in progress"

       

      CAUSE

      A conflicting program is running in the background.

       

      RESOLUTION

      Disable startup programs that are causing a conflict with Point

      1. From the desktop, select Start > Run.
      2. In the Open field, enter msconfig and click OK.
      3. Click the Startup tab.
      4. Click Disable All, or uncheck all the items.
      5. Click OK, then restart the computer..
      6. When the computer has restarted, go to My Computer.
      7. Double-click Local Disk (C:).
      8. Double-click the Winpoint folder.
      9. Double-click the pdfinstall.exe file. When the installation has completed, try e-mailing a form from Point.

      All startup applications have been disabled. You will want to enable the essential startup items, such as, your antivirus program.
