SYMPTOM
When you open the Cardex Database, an error appears: "Index is out of bounds of the array"
CAUSE
There is an invalid record in the database.
RESOLUTION
Export the current Cardex records and import them into a new, blank Cardex Database
- Close Point.
- From the desktop, select Start > Run.
- In the Open field, enter WINPOINT.INI and click OK.
- In the winpoint.ini window, look for the [Directories] entry and write down the path that appears for the Templates= parameter.
- Close the notepad file.
- From the desktop, select Start > Run.
- In the Open field, enter the path you wrote down in step 4.
- Click OK. The folder should open.
- Double-click the Database folder.
- Double-click the Pointcdx.mdb file. Microsoft Access must be installed.
- In the list of tables, double-click Cardex to open all the Cardex records.
- From the Menu bar, select File > Export.
- In the Export window, change the file type to TEXT FILES and type in a filename cardexexport.
- Choose to export the file to the Desktop and click Export All.
- If you are prompted to choose a delimiter, choose Delimited.
- When you have exported it, go to the Database folder and rename the Cardex Database file from pointcdx.mdb to oldpointcdx.mdb.
- Reinstall Point.
This installs a new, blank Cardex Database.
- Open Point.
- From the Menu bar, select Utilities > Cardex Database.
- From the Menu bar of the Cardex window, select File > Import.
- In the Import window, select Comma Delimited.
- Go to the Desktop and double-click cardexexport, the text file you exported in step 13.
- Map the applicable fields for First Name, Last Name, Company, phone number, etc.
