6429 Index is out of bounds of the array

SYMPTOM

When you open the Cardex Database, an error appears: "Index is out of bounds of the array"


CAUSE

There is an invalid record in the database.


RESOLUTION

Export the current Cardex records and import them into a new, blank Cardex Database

    1. Close Point.
    2. From the desktop, select Start > Run.
    3. In the Open field, enter WINPOINT.INI and click OK.
    4. In the winpoint.ini window, look for the [Directories] entry and write down the path that appears for the Templates= parameter.
    5. Close the notepad file.
    6. From the desktop, select Start > Run.
    7. In the Open field, enter the path you wrote down in step 4.
    8. Click OK. The folder should open.
    9. Double-click the Database folder.
    10. Double-click the Pointcdx.mdb file. Microsoft Access must be installed.
    11. In the list of tables, double-click Cardex to open all the Cardex records.
    12. From the Menu bar, select File > Export.
    13. In the Export window, change the file type to TEXT FILES and type in a filename cardexexport.
    14. Choose to export the file to the Desktop and click Export All.
    15. If you are prompted to choose a delimiter, choose Delimited.
    16. When you have exported it, go to the Database folder and rename the Cardex Database file from pointcdx.mdb to oldpointcdx.mdb.
    17. Reinstall Point.

This installs a new, blank Cardex Database.

  1. Open Point.
  2. From the Menu bar, select Utilities > Cardex Database.
  3. From the Menu bar of the Cardex window, select File > Import.
  4. In the Import window, select Comma Delimited.
  5. Go to the Desktop and double-click cardexexport, the text file you exported in step 13.
  6. Map the applicable fields for First Name, Last Name, Company, phone number, etc.
