6455 Point was unable to communicate with Fannie Mae Servers

SYMPTOM

When sending data to Fannie Mae, the user receives the following error: "Point was unable to Communicate with Fannie Mae servers to complete your request. Please check your internet connection and try again later."

 

CAUSE

  • There is not an active internet connection
  • Work offline is checked in
  • A firewall is blocking Point from making communications across the internet

 

RESOLUTION

Verify that you can browse Web pages, because your internet connection may be down.

Configure Norton or McAfee Personal Firewall to allow Point to communicate across the Internet. (You may need to contact your network administrator to configure the firewall.)

Unregister/register MSXML4.DLL

  1. Close Point.
  2. From the desktop, select Start > Run.
  3. In the Open field, enter regsvr32 -u msxml4.dll and then click OK. A message stating that the file has been unregistered successfully should appear.
  4. From the desktop, select Start > Run.
  5. In the Open field, enter regsvr32 msxml4.dll and then click OK. A message stating that the file has been registered successfully should appear.
  6. Open Point and re-submit the file to Fannie Mae.

If the above solution does not resolve the issue, uninstall MSXML4 or MSXML4 SP2 from the Control Panel > Add/Remove ProgramsClick here to reinstall MSXML4 from the Microsoft Website.
