6640 E-mailing a file or form opens Outlook, but clicking Send does nothing

SYMPTOM

From Point, you can open Outlook to e-mail Point files or forms, but nothing happens when you click Send.

 

CAUSES

  • The default E-mail is incorrect
  • A popup blocker or antivirus software is making the Send button hang
  • Unregister/Register the msmapi32.ocx file
  • You must create a new Outlook profile

 

RESOLUTION

Default E-mail is incorrect

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. From the Menu bar, select Tools > Internet Options.
  3. Click the Programs tab.
  4. In the Internet Programs section, change the E-mail dropdown list to Outlook or Outlook Express.

Popup blocker or antivirus software is causing the Send button to not react

  1. Look at the bottom right of the screen on the Windows Taskbar, next to the time display.
  2. Right-click and select Disable or Exit for any icon that relates to a popup blocker or antivirus.

Unregister/Register Msmapi32.ocx.

  1. Close Point.
  2. From the desktop, select Start > Run.
  3. In the Open field, enter regsvr32 -u msmapi32.ocx. The file should unregister successfully.
  4. From the desktop, select Start > Run again.
  5. Remove the -u from the value in step 3 and enter regsvr32 msmapi32.ocx in the Open field. It should register successfully.
  6. Try to E-mail from Point again.
  7. Delete the Msmapi32.ocx file from C:\WINDOWS\system32.
  8. Reinstall Point.
  9. Try to e-mail a file from Point.

Create a new Outlook profile.
