3112 Creating Child Seats in MyCalyx (PointCentral ONLY)

Child seats in MyCalyx provide additional licenses under your organization’s main subscription, allowing PointCentral users to install Point on a second device. This guide outlines the streamlined process for creating and assigning a child seat, ensuring compliance with licensing rules and avoiding MFA conflicts.

Log In to MyCalyx

    1. Go to www.mycalyx.com and enter your administrator credentials to access the dashboard.

Navigate to Manage Users

    1. Click on the Manage Point Installations tab, which shows all currently licensed users and available seats.

Purchase Additional Seat (If Needed)

3.    If all current seats are assigned, first purchase an additional seat via the portal or contact             Calyx sales (contact info available on the dashboard).

4.    Once purchased, a new seat will appear as available for assignment.

Add a "Child Seat"/Assign to a New User
5.    Click the Add a User button on your dashboard.

6.    Input the new user's details: nickname, email address, and optionally, assign an installation           group or permissions.

7.    Click the Save Disk icon to allocate the seat and send the user an install email.

Send Installation Email
8.    The new user will automatically receive an installation email to their address (you can also           use the Resend E-Mail button if needed).

9.    The user follows the instructions to install Point using their assigned seat.

10.   The user opens the same MyCalyx Install email on their additional device, follows the                    standard installation steps, and a red text child seat entry is created in MyCalyx.com

Child Objects & MFA

  • Use a unique email for each Point installation to avoid MFA conflicts.
  • To fix, delete the child object, re-add the user with a unique email, and install from the new link.
  • MFA is only supported on Point version 11.6+, older versions may cause authentication issues.
  • Internet connection is required.

PointCentral Licensing & Seats

  • Licenses now allow two installations per seat (e.g., office PC + laptop).
  • Additional installations require purchasing additional seats.
  • Exceeding the limit triggers an error message; ignoring over-install notices results in site lockout with limited functions.

Summary

Following the child seat setup—verifying availability, assigning a unique email, and completing installation—lets administrators extend access while ensuring security and compliance. Monitoring seat limits and adhering to PointCentral’s two‑installation rule prevents interruptions and restrictions.
