2813 Copying a Point file

There are multiple ways to copy a file.

Option 1
Copying a file by File > Save As

Using the File > Save As function must be completed while the file is open and will copy the entire file but does not save any documents, such as credit reports, downloaded documents, or underwriting results.

1. Open the Point file.
2. From the menu bar, select File > Save As.
3. Select the data folder where you want to save the file.
4. In the dialog box enter the new file name        
5. Check the checkbox Carry over only 1003 data to start a new loan.
6. Select Save

Option 2
Copying a file by using the Copy button.

Using the Copy function can be completed from the loan search results screen.

This function will copy the entire file but does not save any documents.

1. Select and highlight the file you want to copy from the Loan Search Results screen but do not open it.

Click the Copy button.

2. Select the data folder where you want to save the file.
3. Check the checkbox Copy only 1003 data to start a new loan including co-borrower.
4. Select a naming option.

Manual Naming: Manually enter a filename for the new file
Auto File Naming: automatically generates a file number for the new copied file.

Select OK

5. If Manual Naming was selected name, the file.

6. Update the Loans Search Results screen by clicking on Search and the new file will display.
