2754 Configuring Point Mobile to synch with your Point files

The configuration settings for using Point Mobile on your smart phone vary if you are configured for Point or PointCentral.

How do I check if I am configured for Point or PointCentral?

  1. Close Point on your desktop or laptop.
  2. Click the Windows Start icon and then navigate to All Programs > Calyx Software > Point Administrator.
  3. From the Point Administrator window, click the Settings button in the Point Data Server section.
    • If the Enable Point Data Server checkbox is not checked, then you are configured for Point.
    • If the Enable Point Data Server checkbox is checked, then you are configured for PointCentral and you will need to write down the Point Data Server URL and Security key as it is required when setting up Point Mobile on your smart phone.

Please select the appropriate tab (Point or PointCentral) for requirements that you will need to synch your smart phone with your Point files.

 

Mobile Licenses

Your company must purchase mobile licenses from sales at 800-362-2599 before you can synch your smart phone with your Point files.


Microsoft.NET Framework 4

Microsoft.NET Framework 4 Extended must be installed on your desktop or laptop before the synchronization between Point and your smart phone is fully functional. Click here to download Microsoft.NET 4 from Microsoft.com.


Secured Data Folder

A secured data folder in Point is required in order for the Point Mobile application to synchronize with your Point files. When a secured data folder is enabled, a login is required every time you open Point on your computer. You must configure a secured data folder and it must be the first folder in your data folder list.


Install Point Mobile on your iPhone or Android phone

Once you have purchased your mobile licenses and configured Point to synchronize with your smart phone, you are ready to install and configure Point Mobile on your mobile device. Search for Point Mobile from the App Store or Google Play from your smart phone. Download and install the application.

  • Setup Connection: Will synchronize with your Point data - configuration required
    Will allow you to configure the Point Mobile application on your smart phone to synchronize with your Point files. An Activation ID, Connection ID, and login are required. Please see the section below for configuration instructions.

Configure Point Mobile to synch with your Point data

  1. When you initially launch Point Mobile from your mobile device, select the Configuration iconThe Configuration icon is located in the bottom right corner outlined in red.
     
  2. From the Setup Connection Configuration screen, select Point.
  3. Enter the Activation Key and Connection ID.

  4. For the User ID and Password, enter your Point login information.
    The User ID and Password for Point Mobile is the same user ID and password that you use to log into Point. If you are not prompted to enter a login when you open Point, you cannot synchronize your smart phone with your Point files. You must have a secured data folder enabled in Point to use Point Mobile on your smart phone. Please see article 2753 Securing a data folder for Point Mobile.
  5. Click Test Connection.
    You will receive a successful connection message when you have successfully connected your smart phone to your Point files.

  6. Click OK from the "Connected" message and then enter your Point login.
  7. The files in your loan summary screen are displayed.
     

Mobile Licenses and User Configuration

Your company must purchase mobile licenses from Sales at 800-362-2599 before you can sync your smart phone with your Point files. After the mobile licenses have been purchased, the PointCentral administrator will also need to select your Point login account as an active mobile user.

You may need to contact your PointCentral Administrator to perform the steps below to configure your Point login as an active mobile user.

  1. Log into the PointCentral server. (Ex. https://pointcentraldoman.com/admin)
  2. Navigate to Users > List Users.
  3. Check the Mobile Access checkbox to the right of the Users name.
     
  4. Repeat step 3 for all users that will synch their Point files with their mobile device.

Install Point Mobile on your iPhone or Android phone

Once you have purchased mobile licenses and your PointCentral administrator has activated your user account for mobile access, you are ready to install and configure Point Mobile on your mobile device. Search for Point Mobile from the App Store or Google Play from your smart phone. Download and install the application.

    Will allow you to configure the Point Mobile application on your smart phone to synchronize with your Point files. A URL and security key are required for setup. Please see the section below for configuration instructions.

Configure Point Mobile to synch with your Point data

  1. When you initially launch Point Mobile from your mobile device, select the Configuration iconThe Configuration icon is located on the bottom right corner outlined in red.
     
  2. From the Setup Connection Configuration screen, select PointCentral.
  3. For the URL, enter the URL to the PointCentral server, (Ex. https://mydomainname.com/service)
  4. For the Security Key, enter the security key to your PointCentral server.

  5. For the User ID and Password, enter your Point login information.
    This is the same user ID and password that you use to log in to Point.
  6. Click Test Configuration.
    You will receive a "Connected" message when you have successfully connected your smart phone to your Point files.

  7. Click OK from the "Connected" message and then enter your Point login information.
  8. The files in your loan summary screen are displayed.
