2759 Requirements for using Point Mobile on your mobile device

The requirements for using Point Mobile on your smart phone vary if you are configured for Point or PointCentral.

How do I check if I am configured for Point or PointCentral?

  1. Close Point on your desktop or laptop.
  2. Click the Windows Start icon and then navigate to All Programs > Calyx Software > Point Administrator.
  3. From the Point Administrator window, click the Settings button in the Point Data Server section.
    • If the Enable Point Data Server checkbox is not checked, then you are configured for Point.
    • If the Enable Point Data Server checkbox is checked, then you are configured for PointCentral and you will need to write down the Point Data Server URL and Security key as it is required when setting up Point Mobile on your smart phone.

Please select the appropriate tab (Point or PointCentral) for requirements that you will need to synch your smart phone with your Point files.

For Point Users: Requirements for Point Mobile:
  • Calyx Point - Point must be installed on your computer with Internet access
  • Mobile Licenses - you must purchase mobile licenses from sales 800-362-2599.
  • iPhone or Android - you must have an iPhone or Android phone to download the Point Mobile application. Samsung Galaxy are also compatible. Please review compatible devices below.
  • Secured Data Folder - the first data folder that appears in Point must be a secured data folder, which requires a login for access.
  • Microsoft .NET Framework - Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Extended must be installed on the computer to which will synch with Point Mobile
  • OriginationService.Host.exe - A Windows process that will run in the background on your computer after enabling mobile access from Point.
  • Activation Key and Connection ID - an activation key and connection ID are required for setup when configuring Point Mobile on your mobile device.

Please review the below items for all requirements to run Point Mobile on your mobile device.


Calyx Point

Point must be installed on your computer and your computer must have Internet access. Please click here for instructions to install Point on your computer if it is not already installed.


Mobile Licenses

You must purchase a mobile license for each user that will configure Point Mobile on their mobile device to synchronize with their Point files. Please contact sales at 800-362-2599 to purchase mobile licenses if you or your company has not purchased them yet.


iPhone or Android

The Point Mobile application is compatible with iPhone and Android phones. Point Mobile is expected to function as normal on Android or IOS mobile devices that are not listed below but the following devices have been tested by Calyx Software for compatibility.

  • iPhone 4S, 4, 3gs with IOS 4.2 and above
  • Android 2.3 and above
  • Samsung Note, upgraded to version 4
  • Droid X2, version 2.2 / Droid Razr Maxx, version 4.0
  • Galaxy s2, version 2.3
  • HTC Inspire, version 2.2
  • Samsung Cricket, version 2.3 / Samsung Galaxy Nexus, version 4.1.1

    Please Note: IPad, IPod, and Tablet devices are unsupported

Secured Data Folder

A secured data folder is required in order for the Point Mobile Application to synchronize with your Point files. When a secured data folder is enabled, a login is required every time you open Point on your computer. You must configure a secured data folder and it must be the first folder in your data folder list.

  1. Close Point on your computer.
  2. Click the Windows Start icon and then navigate to All Programs > Calyx Software > Point Administrator.
  3. Click Setup Data Folders
  4. One of the data folders must have a key lock symbol under the Secured column and it must be the first data folder in the list.
    • If there is a data folder that already contains a key lock symbol under the Secured column, it must be the first data folder in the list. Use the move up button to move it to the top of the list if necessary. Once the secured data folder is the first folder in the list, you can proceed to the next section of this article.
    • If there aren't any data folders that have the key lock symbol under the Secured column, then you must secure a data folder and move it to the first folder in the list. Please review the Setting up Point Security article for instructions to enable security on a data folder.

Once a key lock symbol appears next to the first data folder that is in Point Administrator, you will need to enter your login information every time you open Point. You will need to enter your Point login information when you setup the connection for Point Mobile from your smart phone.


Microsoft .NET Framework 4

Microsoft.NET Framework 4 Extended is required and must be installed on the computer that will synch Point files with your smart phone. You can download Microsoft .NET 4 Extended from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17851


Obtain the Activation Key and Connection ID

The activation key and connection ID are used to synchronize your mobile device with your Point files. An activation key and connection ID are required to configure the Point Mobile Application on your mobile device and you will be prompted to enter them when you connect configure Point Mobile.

Activation Key

  1. Log into MyCalyx.com to obtain the Activation Key.

    The activation key is required for setup. You may need to contact your MyCalyx Administrator if you do not have the login information for MyCalyx.com. You must have already purchased mobile licenses from the Calyx Sales Department.
  2. Click the Manage Mobile Installations button.

  3. The Point Mobile page displays the activation key for each mobile license on your account. From the Point Mobile page, double-click any entry and enter a Nickname for the user that will configure Point Mobile on their mobile device, and then click the Save icon on the right.

  4. The activation key is required for setup when configuring the Point Mobile Application on your mobile device. You can e-mail the activation key to the user by clicking the Send E-mail button at the bottom of the page.
  5. From the E-mail window, enter the e-mail address of the user and then click Send.
  6. You will be required to enter the activation key when you setup the connection for Point Mobile from your smart phone.

Connection ID

  1. Open Point
  2. From the Menu bar, select Utilities > Mobile Access
  3. Insert a check into the Enabled Point for Mobile Access checkbox.
  4. A Point Connection ID is generated. The Connection ID is required for setup when configuring the Point Mobile Application on your mobile device. You can e-mail the connection ID to yourself by clicking the Email Connection ID button.
  5. You will be required to enter the Connection ID when you setup the connection for Point Mobile from your smart phone.

The Default New Loan type section is used to identify which type of loan file will be created when you save a new loan from your mobile device. Select whether a new loan file created from your smart phone will save as a Prospect or a Borrower file.

The Defined Users and Devices section will indicate the users that have configured Point Mobile on and what type of Device they are using.

Note: The OriginationService.Host.exe will automatically run in the background when you enabled mobile access. It is required to run in the background of your computer in order to synch Point files with your mobile device.


Configure the Point Mobile Application on your mobile device to synch with your Point files

After you have obtained the activation key and connection ID, you are ready to install Point Mobile on your mobile device and synch it with your Point files. Please click here for instructions.

For PointCentral Users: Requirements for Point Mobile:
  • Calyx Point - Point must be installed on your computer with Internet access
  • PointCentral - PointCentral must be installed on the server
  • Mobile Licenses - you must purchase mobile licenses from sales 800-362-2599
  • iPhone or Android - you must have an iPhone or Android phone to download the Point Mobile Application. Samsung Galaxy are also compatible. Please review compatible devices below.

Calyx Point

PointCentral

PointCentral must be installed on the PointCentral server. Please contact your PointCentral administrator to verify that the PointCentral server has been updated. Click here for instructions on updating the PointCentral server.


Mobile Licenses and Users

You must purchase a mobile license for each user that will configure Point Mobile on their mobile device. Please contact sales at 800-362-2599 to purchase mobile licenses.

Once your mobile licenses are purchased, log in to the PointCentral Administration site and select which users will have access to Point Mobile on their smart phone. Contact your PointCentral Administrator if you do not have the login information for the PointCentral Administration site.

  1. Log in to the PointCentral Administration site (Ex. https://mydomainname.com/admin)
  2. Verify that your mobile licenses appear in the Mobile User Licenses section of the home page.
    If your mobile licenses are not reflected, navigate to Configuration > Parameters > click the Refresh Digital Key button and then click Save.

  3. From the PointCentral Administration site, navigate to Users > List Users.
  4. Check the Mobile Access checkbox to the right of the Users name.

  5. Repeat step 4 for all users that will synch their Point files with their mobile device.

iPhone or Android
